Criminal Defense

The following overview of the criminal process is not intended to be a hyper technical legal dissertation filled with “lawyer talk” and Latin phrases. Instead, this section is meant to explain the criminal process in simple and understandable terms, and educate people who have never experienced the Oklahoma Criminal Justice System. Hopefully this section will provide insight into the criminal process and an understanding of what lies ahead, helping to alleviate the fear of the unknown.

The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear,
and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown.

-H.P. LOVECRAFT

Fear of the unknown is common in people who have been accused of a crime; fear results in preoccupation, restlessness and anxiety that severely affects a person’s every day life including family, work and friends. This section is structured to help alleviate some of the “fear of the unknown” by outlining the criminal procedures for Felonies, Misdemeanors and DUI.
